The Nissan Rogue has a clear lead atop the small SUV sales chart when sorted by year-to-date at the six-month mark for 2018, just shy of 17,000 units ahead of the Toyota RAV4, with sales having remained high after a slight blip in April for the Nissan.
Small and crossover SUV sales are up by 18% over quarters one and two of 2018, with most of GM’s nameplates in the segment roughly matching or bettering that rate. Only the Buick Envision slips back against the trend, with sales down by a quarter for the year so far.
Subcompact SUVs and crossovers have seen even more growth over the past six months; this segment is up by 27.7% when figures to the end of June have been taken into consideration. The Subaru XV CrossTrek is responsible for a huge chunk of that increase, contributing over 60,000 more sales than over the first half of 2017 to the sales total.
