Our Take On The Pickup Sales Numbers

The top three trucks for December were the Ram Pickup, Nissan Frontier, and Toyota Tacoma. The Ram slammed down an impressive 33.95 percent increase.

The Nissan Frontier wasn’t that far behind with a 27.41 percent increase for the month, which is surprising due to the fact that its design is well over a decade old. Apparently, it’s aging like fine wine. Rounding out the top three is the well-loved Tacoma with a December increase of 15.11 percent.

The YTD numbers look a little different but not much. All the top three monthly contenders are up near the top here, too. The Toyota Tacoma leads the way with a 23.99 percent increase YTD. Behind it is the Chevrolet Colorado’s 10.37 percent increase, Ram’s 7.24 percent increase, and the Nissan Frontier’s 7.11 percent increase.

On the negative side of things is the Chevrolet Silverado which posted losses for both the month of December and for the year. It saw a decrease of 19.58 percent in December and a 9.34 percent decrease YTD.

Others that didn’t do too well include the Nissan Titan and GMC Canyon, which saw a 16.50 percent decrease and 19.96 percent decrease in December respectively. The Titan also saw a drop of 4.66 percent YTD while the Canyon fared a far better 6.99 percent increase YTD.

Also, it’s important to note that Honda’s unibody Ridgeline saw a small .46 percent increase for December but a significant 11.96 percent decrease YTD.
