Small SUV sales in the U.S. didn’t look fantastic in the month of September when compared to this month last year. The YTD numbers, on the other hand, showed positive results.
If you just look at the September numbers, you’ll see that it is down about 3,400 units for the month when compared with last year’s September numbers. The YTD numbers look better, and the segment is up about 6,700 units.
Leading the way was the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class in terms of sales volume. The model saw positive results for both the month and YTD, too. For the month, it saw about 13 percent more sales than it did in September of last year. Looking at YTD numbers, the model saw sales rise by about two percent.
It’ll be interesting to see how the next few months pan out. The segment is having a good year so far, but continued poor sales in the upcoming months could change that.
Data will trickle in throughout the day with the numbers being finalized by EOD. GCBC is also happy to announce that we will be adding quarterly sales reports and comparisons in addition to monthly sales comparisons beginning this quarter. We will also be adding monthly sales tables and charts to the mix as well.
Note: FCA US LLC will end its practice of reporting U.S. and Canada sales on a monthly basis following June results. FCA US and FCA Canada will report monthly sales for May and June. The first quarterly report will occur on October 1, 2019, covering the months of July, August, and September.
