2019 U.S Commercial Van Sales Analysis

Report Updated: With June 2019 Data on July 2nd 2019

The commercial van segment is having a great year and has had a great month in June. For the month, the segment saw an increase in sales of about 10,000 units. When you look YTD, the segment saw a sales increase of roughly 31,000 units.

The segment leader was the Ford Transit. However, that model saw a slight decrease when you compare it to this time last year. Other models that saw a sales decrease include Ram ProMaster and the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

In terms of the YTD sales numbers the only model that saw a sales decrease was the Ford E-Series. All other models saw sales increases or they were new models for this year.

We would expect commercial van sales to continue to be high throughout the rest of the year. Shipping materials and products, and the logistics industry, in general, is booming due to the increase in online commerce. Until that slows down, it’s unlikely that commercial van sales will drop significantly.

Below you will find sales figures for all commercial vans sold in the United States broken down by month and by quarter.

GCBC is also happy to announce that we will be adding quarterly sales reports and comparisons in addition to monthly sales comparisons beginning this quarter. We will also be adding monthly sales tables and charts to the mix as well.

Note: FCA US LLC will end its practice of reporting U.S. and Canada sales on a monthly basis following June results. FCA US and FCA Canada will report monthly sales for May and June. The first quarterly report will occur on October 1, 2019, covering the months of July, August, and September.
