June 2018 YTD U.S. Passenger Car Sales Rankings – Best-Selling Cars In America
The Best Selling Cars in America – June 2018
Here you will find the YTD passenger car leaders in the United States for June 2018 YTD. Each month we compile passenger car sales data and reports for North American markets and analyze it to create the best selling list below.
With manufacturers ending the first half of 2018 singing the praises of their high-margin, high-riding, high-demand SUVs and light trucks, the picture in the US passenger car segment is much less rosy.
Cast your eyes at the table below and you’ll notice quite a lot of red columns. Of the higher-volume models in the segment (the top-20, say), only three models are ahead of where they were at this point in 2017.
In June, the Honda Civic once again edged out the Toyota Camry for the top-spot, with it and fellow compact the Hyundai Elantra the only two smaller nameplates to manage a bit of year-on-year growth last month.
Sporty car sales similarly failed to bring salvation; the market leader there, the Ford Mustang, increased sales by almost 20% year-on-year on June 2017’s figures, but year-to-date remains behind.
Very few luxury marques also managed to make any ground in June – the BMW 5-Series managed to stick its head above the parapet. A 6% year-on-year increase in June carries on its good run, and the nameplate sits 21% ahead year-to-date, as many other vehicles in its segment failed to go green on our chart.
