Our Take On The Top 20 Best-Selling Luxury Vehicle Sales Numbers
The top-selling luxury passenger car in the top-20 for the US for May 2017, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, clawed back two spaces to sit third after dropping behind the Audi Q5 in April.
That’s not to do with the C-Class increasing its sales; those fell by 22.5% year-on-year for the month.
The Q5 grew its sales by the narrowest margin seen in the last 11 months in May, 0.2%. With deliveries of its smaller stable mate, the Q3, increasing (up 5.4% year-on-year in May), could it be that the smaller luxury SUV is pinching a few sales from under the Q5’s nose?
With Audi having reported last month that for 2018 so far, its Q-badge SUVs account for around 51% of its sales, itmay not worry where the sales are coming from, as long as they keep on rolling in.
Other luxury SUVs in this month’s sales chart posted steeper growth; Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class sales grew 71.9%; BMW X3 sales were up 18.1%; two Volvos hit the top 20 with the XC90 and XC60 building on last May’s results by 30.1% and 84.9% respectively.
Meanwhile, the BMW 5-Series and Audi A4 were the only passenger cars out of the luxury top-20 to experience sales growth for the month.
