First quarter volume of SUVs and crossovers sold in Canada shot up 10.12% on Q1 2017 – the tidal wave of demand for such vehicles is showing little sign of subsiding any time soon.
Notable increases for some high volume nameplates are driving that growth; the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 continue their charge, joined by the Jeep Wrangler in third, which continues its record-breaking streak with a best-ever sales month in the Canadian market in March.
The Mazda CX-5 is also gaining ground in the Canadian market – its volume was up 36.4% year-on-year last month, and year-to-date it sold a fifth more than to this point in 2017.
SUVs and crossovers absorbed over 44% of sales in Canada in the first three months of the year, though the sales chart paints a top-heavy picture, with the top six out of the 110 nameplates shown below taking over 30% of that chunk.
