Chart toppers Ford may have dropped compared with last October by around 300 cars, but October 2017 had one less selling day, meaning the blue oval’s sales-per-day rate is 823.6 vs 801.3 for October 2016. Ford’s grip on the market loosened somewhat this month when compared to its YTD share – 14.8% of vehicles sold in Canada to date have been Fords, vs 12.5% of vehicles sold this month.
Chevrolet, in fourth, stages an impressive 20.9% year-on-year growth in sales, helping it increase its lead over 2016’s year-to-date to 17%.
General Motors came out on top in the Automaker stakes in October too – despite Ford being ahead in YTD terms, GM sold more than 5,000 more vehicles in the Canadian market in October 2017, more than 25% up on the equivalent month last year.
Volkswagen Group is another whose fortunes are looking bright; the German corporation has had its best six months in the Canadian market on record in the last half-a-year, and this month surpassed the total of all its brands sales in the year of 2016.
