March 2016 YTD Canada Vehicle Sales Rankings – Top 261 Best-Selling Vehicles In Canada – Every Vehicle Ranked
Canadian auto sales continued to rise rapidly in March 2016, growing by 15,000 units compared with March 2015.
Through the first-quarter of 2016, Canada’s auto industry is ahead of last year’s record-setting pace by 9%. Car sales are down by more than 5000 units, but with a huge 28,000-unit increase in SUV/crossover sales and nearly 13,000 additional pickup truck sales, the industry appears perfectly capable of making 2016 a fourth consecutive year with record auto sales.
Speaking of records, the seven best-selling vehicles in Canada are all on track to achieve record sales in 2016. For the top-ranked Ford F-Series, that means breaking a two-year-old record. Ram P/U sales reached record highs last year, as did GM full-size pickup truck sales and sales of the Toyota RAV4, now Canada’s top-selling SUV/crossover.
For the Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra, breaking individual records in 2016 will require bucking an industry-wide trend that’s seen many of their competitors decline.
At Hyundai Canada, the Elantra set its all-time sales record of 54,760 sales in 2013. But year-over-year, Elantra volume is up 21% in early 2016. That kind of growth, projected over the remainder of 2016, would result in nearly 58,000 sales. Reminder: these are 2016 year-to-date rankings, but you can sort vehicles by March 2016 volume by clicking the March 2016 column header, or you can rank vehicles by improvements or declines using the % columns. Or, most importantly, you can list automakers together by selecting the Vehicle column header.
There are visible brand results, so when you sort the table by vehicle names to showcase, for example, all Nissans together, you’ll also see the Nissan brand’s total. Manufacturers are shown in bold to differentiate makes and models. At any time, click the Rank column to return to the original format. If you’re on a mobile device, you may need to choose the full version of the site (at the bottom of the page) in order to use the sortable function.
As always, you can find historical monthly and yearly sales figures for any of these vehicles by selecting a make and model at GCBC’s Sales Stats page.
