Auto News For Thursday, July 9, 2015 – General Motors Recalls 200,000 Hummers

2016 Renault Talisman

Here are the five must-read, must-watch auto news stories, reviews and videos for Thursday, July 9, 2015.

FUTURE
The Laguna is dead. Long live the Talisman. Renault, Nissan’s partner (or saviour) is bidding farewell to the Laguna, which has become exceedingly rare. The Talisman is Renault’s answer to the Volkswagen Passat and Ford Mondeo, which we call the Fusion.

COMPARISON
Saleen, renowned tuner of Mustangs, now offers a modified Tesla. They call it the Saleen GTX. And Automobile got the GTX together with Tesla’s own Model S P85D for a comparison test.

INSIDE AUTOMATED DRIVING
What will the early stages of automated driving really look like? Well, in a sense, we’re already there, with Honda CR-Vs steering themselves in a lane. But CAR takes a deeper look at what Mercedes-Benz will do with the E-Class, from remote control parking to seeing around corners.

RECALL
General Motors is recalling almost 200,000 copies of a vehicle they no longer make from a brand they no longer operate which no longer exists: Hummer. Not the Alpha, though.

FCA is recalling 99,436 Jeep Grand Cherokees (model year 2014 and 2015) because, “water may enter the Power Liftgate Control Module and cause a high resistance short circuit in the module.”

WATCH
It’s summer. And you’re about to think about a camping trip this weekend, loading the old family station wagon, (or Honda CR-V) for a trek out to the wilderness (so long as there’s a heated pool) for a night or two in a tent. Perhaps you should consider the words of Jim Gaffigan first.
