Pontiac Montana Sales Figures

Pontiac Montana

Here you will find yearly U.S. sales figures for the Pontiac Montana and Montana SV6. The Pontiac Montana was a minivan produced by General Motors under the Pontiac brand. It was part of the General Motors U-body minivan family and was sold primarily in North America from the 1997 to 2009 model years.

Originally introduced as the Pontiac Trans Sport for the 1997 model year, it was renamed the Montana in 1999 as part of a mid-cycle refresh that also included revised styling and additional features. The Montana was offered with various V6 engines throughout its production, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Both standard and extended wheelbase versions were available, providing options for different family needs. The interior was designed for family use, with seating for up to seven or eight passengers and features like modular seating, rear audio controls, and a built-in entertainment system on some models.

The second generation introduced a more SUV-like appearance, with the goal of appealing to buyers seeking a sportier look. This generation continued to offer various V6 engine options and maintained the availability of standard and extended wheelbase configurations. A specific trim level called “Montana SV6” emphasized sportier styling and features, aiming to differentiate the Montana from other minivans in the market.

Pontiac Montana U.S Sales Data & Charts

The Pontiac Montana faced intense competition in the minivan segment and struggled to stand out among well-established rivals. It received praise for its versatility and the effort to infuse sportier styling, but it was often criticized for its build quality, reliability, and lack of innovation compared to competitors. As part of a broader restructuring of General Motors and the phasing out of the Pontiac brand, the Montana was discontinued after the 2009 model year. It was one of the last models produced by Pontiac before the brand was retired.
