Acura RL Sales Figures

The Acura RL

The Acura RL, also known as the Honda Legend in some markets, is a mid-size luxury sedan produced by Acura, Honda’s luxury division. It was introduced in 1996 and has gone through several generations, each aimed at offering a combination of performance, comfort, and advanced features. The Acura RL has seen multiple generations during its production run. The first generation was produced from 1996 to 2004, followed by the second generation from 2005 to 2012. The RL was then succeeded by the Acura RLX.

Acura RL Brief Overview

The RL featured an elegant and refined design, reflecting Acura’s contemporary styling language. It was built on a unibody platform, offering a comfortable ride and a spacious interior. The RL typically came with a V6 engine, which varied in displacement and power output depending on the generation and model year. Early models were equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, while later iterations featured a more powerful 3.7-liter V6 engine. Some generations of the RL offered all-wheel drive (AWD) as standard, providing enhanced traction and stability. Acura equipped the RL with a 4-speed automatic transmission in the first generation. Later generations, starting from 2005, were equipped with a more advanced 5-speed automatic transmission. The Acura RL played a significant role in establishing Acura’s reputation in the luxury sedan market. However, due to market dynamics and a shift in Acura’s sedan lineup, the RL was eventually discontinued and succeeded by the Acura RLX. The Acura RLX, introduced in 2013, took over the position as Acura’s flagship luxury sedan. While the RL is no longer in production, the RLX continues to offer luxury, performance, and advanced features for those seeking an Acura sedan with a focus on comfort and technology.
